Today's lesson:
- revision: Past Tense with questions (Did you go...) & negation (No, I didn't go...)
- reading & listening: "A joke" (book p 105, 6a & 6c)
- speaking about the future: plans and ideas
- reading: e-mail "Weekend plans" (book p 106)
PLANS for the future: am/is/are + "-ing" (Present Progressive)
When we speak about future PLANS (it's 99% certain!) we use the present progressive (am/is/are + "-ing")
I'm flying to London next weekend.
> next weekend = FUTURE
> it's a plan, it's sure
IDEAS for the future: "might"
When we speak about IDEAS for the future (it's not certain), we use might + verb
I might visit Hyde Park when I go to London next weekend.
> next weekend = FUTURE
> it's not sure, it's only an idea
Homework:
- Write an answer to Amelie's e-mail (book p 106)
In her e-mail, Amelie asked you: "Would you like to come (to Manchester)?
You would NOT like to come, but you don't want to tell her directly - you are polite!
Find excuses (Ausreden) for why you cannot come: 4 plans (I'm + "ing") & 2 ideas (I might...)
Don't forget to write a beginning (Hi Amelie, Thanks for...) and an ending.
