Today's lesson:
- revision: questions (see also book p 5; exercises from the workbook)
- reading/listening/speaking: "Keeping in touch" (text on book p 6)
Homework:
Book p 8/9: reading "Tina and Will"
Read the text on page 8, and do tasks number 2 (page 8), number 1 & 2 (page 9, top, vocabulary section)
There are 4 groups of questions, depending on the "auxiliary verbs":
Group 1: Questions with "am, is, are, was, were" (=to be)
- Are you happy?
- Was the party fun?
Group 2: Questions with "have/has/had" + 3rd verb form (past participle)
- Have you ever been to London?
- Has he forgotten his keys?
Group 3: Questions with modal verbs (can, may, must, could, might, should, would, shall, will)
- Can you help me?
- Will I see you at the party?
- Shall we dance?
Group 4: Questions with "do / does / did" + infinitive (base form of the verb)
- Do you like hamburgers?
- Does Tony live in London?
- Did you meet Alex last weekend?
The auxiliary verbs / the 4 groups are EXCLUSIVE! This means, you cannot MIX the groups.
WRONG: Did you be at the party? >> CORRECT: Were you at the party?
WRONG: Do you can sleep long on Sundays? >> CORRECT: Can you sleep long on Sundays?
WRONG: Does he have got a car? >> CORRECT: Has he got a car. OR Does he have a car?
