VHS Hall 08:10-09:50 - Fri, 28 Feb

VHS Hall 08:10-09:50 - Lesson of Friday, 28 February

PLEASE DON'T FORGET: THERE WILL BE NO LESSON NEXT FRIDAY! OUR NEXT LESSON IS ON MARCH 14!

What we did today:
- Book page 53
- Talking about gardening, painting, fishing (your homework texts)
- Grammar: Ehen to use the "ing"-form

The "ing" form always gives you "a bigger picture"
example:
I drive from Innsbruck to Hall. (no "ing") - I only talk about the way from IBK to Hall
I love driving in my sports car. - I love the feeling, it is a hobby, not only the way from IBK to Hall.

The "ing" form is used in the following cases:

1. am/is/are + "ing"
-> for things that are happening at the moment / over a longer period of time (Present Progressive)
example:
I am watching TV. (at the moment, now)
I watch TV every evening. (not now, always)

2. at the beginning of a sentence
Swimming is healthy.
Birdwatching is boring.

3. for activities (as the object of a sentence)
I love swimming.
I enjoy driving in my car.

-> When we speak about activities, we often use the following words to say how much we like an activity:
- I really love   }
- I love            }  positive
- I like             }

- I don't mind   }  neutral
 (es macht mir
       nichts aus)

- I don't like     }
- I can't stand   }  negative
- I hate             }
