What we did:
- Book page 24 & 26 (listening)
- Grammar:
Present Simple vs. Present Progressive
We use Present Simple (1st verb form) to describe what we do regularly / again and again.
I work every day. I usually work until 6 pm.
We use Present Progressive (am/is/are + ing) for temporary situations and things that are happening at the moment.
I'm watching TV at the moment. I'm doing an English course at evening school this term.
The Future
We use will for:
- promises I promise I will call you.
- spontaneous decisions You're going to the cinema? I'll come with you!
- "when" sentences "When I'm older, I'll become a fireman," said the little boy.
We use am/is/are + going to + verb for:
- plans I'm going to spend my holiday in Greece this year.
- intentions I'm going to study the English vocabulary for next week.
- if there is a clear sign It's going to rain. There are black clouds in the sky.
We use am/is/are + ing if something has already been fixed, planned and arranged:
I'm leaving for China tomorrow. (I have already got my visa, I've already bought the flight tickets, I've already booked the hotel, ...)
